Does the trilogy fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier determine the heavyweight GOAT?

The biggest fight in UFC heavyweight history goes down this weekend live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will defend his title against former two-division champion Daniel Cormier in a trilogy fight to determine who is the best heavyweight of all time.

With the score tied at 1-1, both men have won and lost to each other. This fight will prove who is the best.

UFC President Dana White spoke with reporters on the importance of this fight.

“I’m so pumped for that fight,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Tuesday night. “First of all, both the fights before the trilogy have been incredible. The way that Cormier won the first fight and the way that Stipe won the second fight, and it’s one of the best trilogies ever. I saw some debate on if the winner of this fight would go down as the greatest heavyweight – it’s no (expletive) debate. There’s no debate. The winner of this fight is the greatest heavyweight ever. Not of this era – ever in UFC history and mixed martial arts.

“I know there’s talk about other guys, you gotta look at who they fought, and there’s just no doubt. There’s no question that these two – Saturday will determine who the man is.”

The champion Stipe Miocic stated he is ready to go this Saturday.

“He’s a great fighter,” Miocic said. “That guy keeps coming, he doesn’t stop. There’s a reason he’s at the top. He’s a hell of a fighter. He’s going to bring it again here on Saturday. I’m ready for it.”

When asked if the winner of this fight will be declared as the greatest heavyweight on history, Miocic was not afraid to stake his claim.

“Definitely. I believe so,” Miocic said when asked if the winner of the trilogy will be considered the best heavyweight of all time. “I think we’ve done so much. Unfortunately for him, it’s going to be me.”

Miocic would love nothing more than to end this chapter in a spectacular fashion.

“Hell yeah, a knockout’s the way to go,” Miocic said. “End the night early, come out of there unscathed. Listen, I’m definitely going for a knockout.

“If it goes five rounds, it goes five rounds, I really don’t care. I’m going to get that win. That’s legit all I care about.”

“I’ve got no bad blood towards him. Not at all,” Miocic said. “I’m going out with the belt around my waist but I’ll definitely shake his hand say it was a hell of a time.
