UFC veteran Corey Anderson gets released from UFC, signs deal with Bellator
UFC veteran Corey Anderson gets released for the UFC in a surprising turn of events.
UFC lightweight contender will now make the move to Bellator. Initially reported by ESPN, Anderson signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator.
Anderson has been a long time UFC light heavyweight contender after winning season 19 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
Anderson competed at UFC on ESPN+ 25 back in February and was knocked out in the first round.
In a recent Facebook post, Anderson said he has not been able to compete due to a head injury suffered in the fight against Jan Blachowicz.
Anderson claims he was not properly evaluated by the New Mexico Athletic Commission medical professionals following the fight. As a result, he passed out and hit his head on the pavement causing the head injury.
According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Anderson still had a contract with the UFC with pending fights but requested a release from the promotion, which was granted.
No official announcement has been made as to when Anderson will make his promotion debut or the opponent.
