Anderson dos Santos tests positive for COVID-19

UFC Fight Island is just days away and fighters from all over the globe start to make their way to Abu Dhabi. The UFC has implemented several safety measures to ensure a safe environment. 

Fighters will go through a total of 4 different COVID-19 tests. Friday, reports confirmed that Anderson dos Santos tested positive for COVID-19. MMA Fighting was the first to report the news.

Dos Santos has been withdrawn from the card and he will not compete. The 34-year-old was unexpected to fight Jack Shore at the UFC Fight Island event on July 15.

Anderson dos Santos is currently 0-2 in the UFC and was looking to get back into the win column. The UFC has not announced a replacement opponent for Jack Shore.

He is not the first fighter to have tested positive for COVID-19. Lyman Good and Jimmie Rivera have also tested positive for COVID-19 and were both scraped from their fights.

With the removal, the current July 15 lineup includes:

  • Diana Belbita vs. Liana Jojua
  • Jack Shore vs. TBA
