The UFC and Mayweather Promotions are close to an agreement, Dana White says co-promotion ‘very possible’
The record for the most pay-per-view buys was nearly shattered last time UFC President Dana White and Floyd Mayweather stuck a deal.
Three years after “The Money Fight,” the UFC and Mayweather may reach an agreement again. Although Mayweather still hasn’t stepped into the octagon as he teased, Dana White says he’s still in talks with the retired boxer to co-promote another event.
White told TMZ he and Mayweather are “interested on both sides” in another event, which is “very possible,” though he nixed a rematch between “Money” and Conor McGregor.
McGregor is currently retired and recently announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin. This will likely push back the return of “The Notorious” to the octagon.
White said he’ll proceed with the UFC with or without him.

“I know [Mayweather] would rematch Conor McGregor, but I don’t know if you heard about this, but Conor McGregor’s retired,” White said. “When I’m doing things right now and running business, I don’t even think about Conor. Conor is retired. As of right here now today, Conor is retired until Conor tells me differently, I’m not trying to make any fights for Conor.”
Reportedly, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather both earned $100 million and $30 million guaranteed purses for “The Money Fight.”
The UFC generated $700 million in revenue that same year. White said the boxing match was the biggest selling pay-per-view ever with 6.7 million buys.
With so many zeros involved in a rematch, the UFC and Mayweather Promotions may look to kickstart revenues after the coronavirus pandemic. No doubt, both sides may try to figure out a deal and work together again.
