“Suga” Sean O’Malley launches apparel line, makes $20,000 on jerseys in 39 seconds
Sean O’Malley is one of the fastest rising stars in the UFC at the moment.
The 25-year old bantamweight has quickly gained popularity and has built a massive fanbase on Twitch and Instragam with over 1.1 million followers.
O’Malley is an excellent fighter but is quickly learning to be an entrepreneur.
After discovering he wasn’t earning much through UFC’s official appeal deal through Reebok, he decided to take matters into his own hands and plans to launch his own apparel line.
The launch date is scheduled for Aug 11 but Sean dropped a practice run by releasing a limited edition jersey.
“We did our first little drop with the jerseys. We had a limited edition jersey, 100 of them for $200. They sold out in 39 seconds,” O’Malley revealed when speaking to MMA Fighting. “We auctioned off No. 420 and 69, those went for some good money on eBay.
“So that was exciting, kind of seeing the numbers we could do. I think over 4,000 people on the website trying to get the jerseys.”
Earing $20,000 in a matter of seconds proved proof of concept and is more than double of what O’Malley made in two years with Reebok.
O’Malley is designing his own clothing line and is excited to expand his business outside of the octagon.
“We’re dropping some more stuff fight week,” O’Malley said. “Might be doing a collaboration with Cookies for some merch. Everything’s going awesome.
“The only thing I need to do is keep winning fights and everything around me goes up from there. Everything’s going good and can’t complain.”
