Octagon Report UFC 252 Predictions: Who will be crowned the best heavyweight in UFC history

UFC’s biggest fight in heavyweight history goes down this Saturday at the UFC Apex in las Vegas. This fight will settle the argument of who is the best heavyweight fighter of all time. The winer will be crowned the heavyweight GOAT.

Octagon Report’s analysts, writers, and editors have made their predictions below.

The UFC main event will mark the fight pay-per-view event in Las Vegas since prior to Fight Island. The event will be headlined by the top heavyweights Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. This fight has big implications as the winner be crowned the heavyweight champion and the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Both men are skilled strikers and finish most of their fights with their hands. But in the heavyweight division, the fight could end at any time with a powerful punch. Daniel Cormier comes from a wrestling background with extensive NCAA competitions and a member of the USA wrestling Olympic team.

Stipe Miocic uses a fighting style that focuses on outlasting his opponent with a combination of speed, unique angles, and constant punches. He can fight anywhere the fight goes but prefers standing. Miocic has an excellent takedown defense and keeping him down is a daunting task for anyone. Daniel did manage to take Stipe down in their previous fight but as the fight progressed “DC” gassed out and Stipe was able to take him down at one point.

Daniel is a counter striker who uses feints, footwork, and angles. Daniel favors his power punches and wrestling and uses small feints and solid footwork to create angles that allow him to capitalize on his opponent’s reactions to either shoot in for a takedown or land stikes.

Miocic has a serviceable ground game but can be taken down by top wrestlers, such as Daniel Cormier.

The oddsmakers and betting odds seem to have no clue who will win. The fight is a pick’em. A coin flip.  Despite being the slight underdog, Daniel Cormier has the power to end the fight at any moment. Stipe Miocic has the skills and the cardio to avoid the power punches and takedowns from Cormier. Sure, Miocic may be able to avoid the punches and takedowns but he is going up against the best wrestler in the UFC.

Prediction: Daniel Cormier via TKO

UFC 252 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.
