Octagon Report breakdown: UFC on ESPN 10

UFC on ESPN 10 took place last Saturday night at the Apex facility in Las Vegas.

The card was headlined by former straw-weight  title contender Jessica Eye and rising star Cynthia Calvillo.

Cynthia Calvillo has been waiting for her opportunity at a top ranked opponent and came into Saturday’s bout on a 4-fight win streak.

This past fight week was drama-filled. Several fighters missed weight including headliner Jessica Eye. The beef between Marvin Vettori and Karl Roberson continued.

The fight between these two middleweights was previously scheduled for Jacksonville, Fl last May. Roberson had to withdraw from the fight which caused an altercation at the hotel lobby.

The beef was finally settled.

Although the card was not as stacked as previous card, the event did not disappoint. Several fights ended in finishes.

The main card was kicked off by the women’s flyweight division. Marita Agapova faced off against Hannah Cifers. Mariya finished the fight in a first round via submission.

The men’s featherweight followed. Andre Fili faced off against rising contender Charles Jourdain. Fili got the split decision after a hard fought back and forth battle.

After being scheduled twice, Vettori and Roberson finally clashed. The trash talk came to an end. You may recall Vettori and and Roberson almost got into in at the hotel lobby on Florida last May.

It took Vettori just 1 round to submit Roberson in the first round via rear naked choke.

Vettori called out a ranked opponent and is coming off a 3-fight round streak.

In the main event the #1 flyweight contender Jessica Eye defended the No.1 ranked spot against Calvillo.

After a few exciting rounds, Calvillo took over with takedowns and won an unanimous decision.

Will she be next in line for the title at straw-weight?
