Anthony Pettis calls out Anderson Silva

During these crazy times, all bets seem to be off. Matches are being made based on who’s ready to go against anyone, anywhere, and anytime.

Fight island is underway in July and matches that one day seemed impossible are now in the conversation.

An unexpected match may be near.

Last week former UFC lightweight champion and welterweight contender Anthony “Showtime” Pettis called out the former UFC middleweight and pound for pound great Anderson “Spider” Silva.

Anthony took to social media to politely call out Silva.

Silva was happy to oblige and agreed to the bout.

The two then asked UFC President Dana White to send the contract.

Dana spoke on the matter during the UFC on ESPN 10 pre-fight press conference. He said, “I saw that, that they were going back and forth. Him and Pettis? Yeah no. Guys talk s**t every day on Twitter and social media.”

“I’m not crazy about it. You’ve got a guy that fought at 145lbs and a guy who’s in the conversation for the GOAT at 185lbs and walks around at 210, 215. It is not a big fight that really means something. I like making fights that mean something.”

Dana does not seem too fond of the matchup. Anderson Silva has two fights remaining on his current contract.

Who will be the last two fights on Silva’s contract?
