Mike Perry issues apology

With a son on the way, UFC welterweight Mike Perry wants to turn over a new chapter in his life three weeks after being accused of assaulting three people at a restaurant in Texas.

Mke said he wants to be a “better role model” for his girlfriend Latory Gonzalez, who four days ago announced she is pregnant.

“I want to be a better role model for my family,” Perry wrote “For my unborn son. My Queen (Latory) and for myself so I can earn the respect I deserve. To my sponsors and my bosses at (UFC) I want to apologize for how my actions have impacted our relationships. I will be better all around.”

Last month, Perry was accused of assaulting three people after a dispute at a restaurant in Texas. A video surfaced of the UFC star appearing to punch an older man after a woman asked him to leave.

Perry told police he had an argument with the first victim whose girlfriend began to “claw” at him. Perry said he punched the second victim after he had lunged at him and touched his shoulder.

Police cited Perry with a misdemeanor but no arrests were made.

Afterward, the UFC stated it would not book Perry for a fight until he underwent a treatment program for alcohol abuse.
