Jorge Masvidal makes professional cornhole debut

UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal is always up for a challenge. He may have lost his title fight against Kamaru Usman at Fight island but the “BMF” is ready to compete, again. This time it will be under different circumstances, Jorge is set to enter the world of American Cornhole as he faces the champion Cody Henderson.

Yes, you heard that right. Masvidal will make his professional cornhole debut against the champion in a special match at the 2020 ACL Word Championships.

You may be wondering, “Why?” and with good reason. Masvidal is the UFC “BMF” champion, a Top 5 contender in the lightweight division, and one of the best fighters in the world so a cornhole match doesn’t make sense. Right?

Well, according to ACL, this special match was created by the ACL and Masvidal’s team after Masvidal and Henderson played a friendly match of cornhole on Radio Row during SuperBowl week.

The video recently resurfaced on social media upon the announcement of the match. Jorge replied, “I wasn’t warmed up.”

The event is gaining considerable traction on social media and Masvidal seems to be having fun with the opportunity to keep broadening his reach.

“I have the fastest KO in MMA fighting history and now I am going for the fastest KO in Cornhole history,” Masvidal said. “Cody will regret spotting me 15 points,” stated Masvidal.

He also used the event to take a shot at rival Kamaru Usman. “Only way I get stopped is if foot stomps are legal #theresurrection.”

The match will last 5 rounds. Any player that reached 21 points by the end of the fifth round will be declared the winner. If neither player is able to do so, the decision will go to judges scorecards.

The match goes down live this Wednesday, Aug. 5, and will be broadcasted by ESPN 2.
