Welcome to the “Sugar Show”
The latest episode of the “Sugar Show” premiered last Saturday at UFC 250. Sean O’Malley has quickly become one of the biggest prospects in the UFC. O’malley’ is coming off a first round TKO of Jose Quinonez in March.
Undefeated, so far in the UFC, O’mally came into Saturday nights bout with more hype than anyone on the card.
O’malley faced a tough test in UFC veteran Eddie Wineland. Eddie Wineline won the first WEC bantamweight title and came into the fight looking to derail the hype train of Sean.
The hype train quickly turned into a hype spaceship. It took only one round for O’ Malley to KO Wineland in a spectacular walk off KO.
UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, gave his opinion on the KO. Joe spoke with O’Malley after the fight and stated, “That’s the best walk-off KO I’ve ever seen!”
He moves to a perfect 12-0 record.
O’Malley is on a 5-fight win streak in UFC events. The bantamwight division is already stacked. There are many matchups to make for the “Sugar Show” at 135lbs.
The bantamweights did not disappoint last weekend. All of the bantamweight fights in the main card ended in finishes.
In the post-fight interview Sean gave his thoughts on the fight and his future stating, “I was really, really healthy for this fight. I had no injuries. Last fight, I felt I was 95 percent. I had a couple small injuries, but I felt 100 percent in there tonight.”
“It was a matter of minutes from the beginning of the fight before I cracked him with something. I was longer than him and when you’re as fast and accurate as I am, I’m going to land first and I’m going to land early, and I landed on the button.”
“It’s kind of up to the UFC. A main event almost sounds right. It sounds like something that should probably get done. We’ll see. Hopefully I’ll sit down with (matchmaker) Sean Shelby and we’ll figure out what’s next, but hopefully a main event sounds nice.”
Will Sean face a top 10 bantamweight next?
