MMA fighter stabbed to death during birthday celebration

British MMA fighter Jahreau Shepard was attacked at his 30th birthday party on Sunday. The Bellator fighter was stabbed to death in what police have called “terrible attack.” 

The unfortunate event took place at a housing estate in Kennington, South London. Shepard, family, and friends gathered for a barbeque to celebrate his 30th birthday.

According to Police reports, the stabbing took place at about 10 p.m local time. When officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, life-saving measures were taken to save Shepard but he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

There have not been any arrests made as of Wednesday. A 26-year old man did arrive at the hospital with similar stabbing injuries and is believed to have suffered the injuries at Shepard’s birthday party. The investigation is still ongoing.

Shepard fought for Bellator MMA in May 2018 where he defeated Marcin Zywica by first-round TKO.

Shepard also trained at Allstars Training center with UFC title contender Alexander Gustafsson. 

UFC fighter and training partner Darren Stewart paid tribute to Shepard on social media.

I got a text from my cousin and still didn’t believe it until I saw people writing R.I.P…….. all you wanted to do is make it in life in mma. You was always on smoke and I loved it because I said to you don’t matter if I’m in UFC, I always wanted your confidence how you was just up for any fight……still crying now as I write this. It hasn’t hit me yet I ain’t took it in yet. I can’t even talk to anyone right now I’m so fucking hurt. I promise you bro I’ll do what ever it takes to make it because you was a real one that always supported me AAAAAALWAYS! 🙏🏾❤️ R.I.P.”
