Conor McGregor Clowns Justin Gaethje
Khabib Nurmagomedov is out of the September title bout against Justin Gaethje. Many believed Conor would step in to fight Justin but Justin declined.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Ali Abdelaziz said Khabib asked him to tell Justin to take the Conor fight. Ali manages both Justin and Khabib.
“Justin said no, Khabib told me to tell Justin to go fight Conor, Justin said no,” he revealed.
“Listen, we dictate this, Conor right now, he can be a back-up fighter, he can go make win, he can maybe make some money.
“He’s [McGregor] not even number three, he’s number four or five.
“Conor he can go fight [Jorge] Masvidal, we have no interest in fighting him, he needs to get some wins, he needs to fight some good opponents.”
It didn’t take long for Conor to hear the news and responded to with a simple tweet.
Conor McGregor walked away from the sport last month when he announced his retirement after frustrations grew from lack of fight options. Many believe Conor will return for a super fight.
UFC President Dana White insists he “wouldn’t be surprised” if the former UFC double champion returned to action next year.
“As of right now, he’s retired,” he said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he came out and wanted to fight somebody next year after all these different fights play out.”
