Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. pay-per-view price revealed
The highly anticipated exhibition boxing match between legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. was announced a few days ago and both fighters are set to go.
The boxing match will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. It will be streamed through satellite, cable, and social media platform Triller all on pay-per-view.
Many have wondered about the price of this mega event.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the marketing and planning of the event confirmed that the Sept. 12 pay-per-view card will cost $49.99, following a report from The Athletic.
Roy Jones Jr spoke to reporters in a recent interview.
Asked by Sky Sports News if they could defeat the current generation of heavyweight champions, Jones Jr said: “Not right now. It would be hard for us to last 12 rounds with any of those guys. They are skilled fighters, not bad boxers. They are not as skilled as we were but they are in their primes, and we are not.”
“In our primes? We would probably have beaten them. You can never say, but I think we would probably have beaten them.
“Our skill level was deeper, at that time, than it is now.
“In our prime, we would have come out on top against most of those guys. But you never know because it never happened so you can’t discredit those guys. They are good fighters, well-respected fighters, and my hat is off to them because they are at the top.”
Jones knows Mike is still powerful and fast.
Jones added: “Mike is still just as dangerous as ever. The only thing about it is, you’ve been out of this sport for so long, it’ll be hard for him to go a full 12-round bout and sustain this.
“Yet he’s still good, he has his speed, he still has his power, he’s still highly explosive, so he’s still a dangerous guy.”
The event’s preliminary card includes additional fights and multiple musical performances. The famous rappers Eminem and Lil Wayne will be performing at the event.
A preliminary fight that will have many eyes on is the bout between YouTube star Jake Paul taking on former NBA star Nate Robinson.
